Adena Women and Children's baby photo contest

Adena Health’s annual Baby Photo Contest celebrates the youngest members of our community, while supporting a great cause.

All funds raised through this contest go directly to The Pioneer Center, a school operated by the Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The center works with children and young adults with developmental disabilities, offering classroom learning, life and job skills, and on-site therapy and nursing care, all in partnership with local schools.

Over the past 20+ years, the contest has raised more than $30,000 to support the center’s programs. Donations have helped fund a walking track, accessible playground, home training room, adaptive seating, and physical therapy tools for students.

About the Pioneer Center

The Ross County Board of Developmental Disabilities, also known as the Pioneer Center, was created legislatively in 1967, along with other Boards of DD in all of Ohio’s 88 counties.

The idea was to create an agency whose mission would provide life opportunities for children and adults in Ross County who had developmental disabilities (those disabilities which arise in children before the age of 21.)

Our Mission Statement
Improving lives by supporting choices of people through community partnerships and quality services.

The Ross County Board of DD exists for the purpose of improving the quality of life for our citizens who have a developmental disability. We are committed to provide quality services that provide individuals and their families with choices that enhance community participation and achieve a life of increasing capabilities.

Our Purpose
To improve the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
